Solo show by Jorge Enciso at Ceramic Art Fair Paris
Ceramic Art Fair highlights the modernity and diversity of the fire arts, celebrating ceramics and glass through a resolutely artistic and contemporary lens.
On this occasion, Jorge Enciso presents a collection of works inspired by the ancestral pharmacopoeia of the region now called Latin America. Each piece evokes the ancient remembrance of the healing plants of body and spirit. The pieces open like seeds, appear like buds on the verge of blooming, or surrender themselves to a luminous withering.
The knowledge considered sacred, guarded by keepers of memory and balance, is not entrusted to just anyone… there are no written words, but words transmitted orally as a sacred act… reserved only for the chosen, those capable of sustaining the bond with the spirits of nature. They understand that the direct application of plants is not enough; something more is needed for the plants to unfold their healing power. Through words, chants, and stories almost whispered, an invisible chain is woven, ensuring the continuity of the secrets and preserving the healing strength of every root, leaf, or seed.
Thus, the living word becomes the true writing of the forest, a material prayer with plants that embrace and offer themselves, as an intangible heritage that still breathes, latent, in the earth.
